Zombies: Infected Freaks
Zombies come in all shapes and sizes. Most often they are depicted as staggering corpses with a primal need to feed. In most cases the disease quickly spreads through a virus passed through blood, saliva, or really any contact with infected fluid. Zombies have a rich history and have produced a riot of interesting end of the world scenarios.
My latest series — INFECTED FREAKS, the zombies are actually a form of alien fungus that has brought the dead back to life in a tangle of rotten blight. These infected freaks are not your typical zombies. The outlandish fungal spore is believed to be a product of an approaching mysterious planet titled RED DEAD. How and why are explained through the continuous series of novella sized volumes in a breath taking survival adventure. The books are set in a post-apocalyptic world shattered by a nasty American civil war that boiled into a nuclear world war. The silence that follows is quickly replaced by the appearance of infected freaks. Clustered in mold, and dark desires the infected freaks have devoured the wastelands left in the wake of war and natural disaster. The governments of the world have been destroyed, and most of the population with them. These corpses riddled in fungus have a weakness, the daylight. They hate it, and it hates them. Nobody knows where they go when the Sun is shining and it is a place that most men would never dare to go. Yet, when the crimson red illumination of RED DEAD comes out at night, the infected freaks come out to devour and spread their spores. They are somehow connected the crimson light burning off RED DEAD.
Infected freaks as they are often called are mutated corpses, reshaped into nightmarish clusters of mold and flesh. The creatures are highly aggressive and will use a heightened sense of smell to hunt and attack any living thing. These nasty monsters are the main type of infected in the series. There are rumors of different species and types sparking frightening tales between the survivors. More frightening types will be revealed as the story unfolds. Yet, as bad as the infected freaks are, it’s the humans hiding under the guide of peace and love that keep most of the survivors fearing the living.
